Police: Man killed wife, mother-in-law, then himself
NORTON, Va. (AP) — A man killed his wife and mother-in-law, before killing himself at a home in western Virginia, state police said.
Norton police received a 911 call from a home on Highland Avenue NW on Sunday just before noon and when officers arrived, they found two women and a man dead, Virginia State Police said in a news release on Monday. Investigators found a firearm in the home.
Police said it appears that Bryan Wampler, 53, shot and killed his wife, Vivian Wampler, 53, and mother-in-law, Elizabeth Sturgill, 81, then fatally shot himself. Their bodies were taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for examination and autopsy.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
