Romania hooker Butnariu banned 3 weeks for red card
DUBLIN (AP) — Romania hooker Tudor Butnariu was suspended for three weeks on Wednesday after he was sent off in the test against Uruguay last weekend.
Butnariu was red-carded for a dangerous high tackle late in the test in Montevideo, where Romania prevailed 30-22.
The hooker admitted at his disciplinary hearing the red card was warranted.
The judiciary reduced his potential six-week sanction to three weeks, and agreed that it could be cut again to two weeks if he undergoes a coaching intervention program.
But Butnariu will miss the second Uruguay-Romania test on Sunday at Estadio Charrua again.
